4130 Chromoly Tubing is a type of steel pipe made by adding alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum to steel. It is available in both seamless and welded forms, with seamless pipe being the more common and dominant form in industrial applications. Its manufacturing process follows ASTM A519 or API 5CT standards. It possesses excellent strength, toughness, and weldability, and is commonly used in racing, aerospace, automotive manufacturing, and heavy industry.
As a supplier of 4130 chromium-molybdenum alloy pipe, we offer products that maintain excellent toughness and stability across all temperature conditions. We produce alloy pipes with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.8 to 30 mm and accept custom diameters and lengths. If you are interested, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Advantages
- Strong mechanical properties: Its tensile and yield strengths are approximately twice that of ordinary carbon steel, enabling it to withstand extremely high pressure and loads, and exhibiting structural stability under impact and fatigue loads.
- Excellent machinability: Renowned for its excellent weldability, it is compatible with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and manual arc welding. It also possesses good machinability, making it easy to bend and cut.
- Excellent heat resistance: It maintains stable performance even under high-temperature conditions, exhibiting high temperature resistance and a certain degree of resistance to hydrogen corrosion.
- Long-term durability: More corrosion-resistant than carbon steel, it can be used for extended periods in humid and corrosive industrial environments when combined with painting, powder coating, or electroplating.

Application areas
- Aerospace: Used to manufacture aircraft structural components, engine parts, rocket components, and key landing gear components.
- Motorsports: High-strength chassis and roll cages for racing cars and go-karts, drive shafts, and exhaust systems.
- Energy and Chemical Industry: Used to manufacture high-pressure pipelines and drilling equipment, oil well casing, drill pipe joints, wellhead equipment, high-pressure pipelines, high-pressure gas cylinders, and heat exchanger piping.
- Machinery Manufacturing: Structural and transmission components for various mechanical equipment, such as high-pressure hydraulic cylinders, gear shafts, bearing housings, and connecting rods.

4130 Chromoly Seamless Round Tube Weight Calculation Formula
Weight(kg/m) = 0.02466 × Wall Thickness(mm) × (Outside Diameter(mm) − Wall Thickness(mm))
- 0.02466 = Fixed coefficient (derived from steel density 7.85 g/cm³)
How is it produced?
Raw Material Preparation → Steelmaking → Continuous Casting/Insole Casting → Pipe Rolling → Heat Treatment → Finishing → Inspection → Packaging and Warehousing.
Surface Treatment of 4130 Chromium-Molybdenum Steel Pipes
4130 chromium-molybdenum steel pipes resemble carbon steel pipes in appearance, being black or dark gray. This is mainly due to the formation of an iron oxide scale on their surface, giving them a less glossy look. However, their appearance and surface treatment methods are diverse:

- Original Oxidation Color: As mentioned above, 4130 chromium-molybdenum steel pipes may retain their original oxide color, i.e., black or dark gray, when they leave the factory. This is a natural result of the steel reacting with oxygen at high temperatures.
- Mechanical Polishing: To improve surface smoothness and aesthetics, the steel pipes can be mechanically polished. Polished steel pipes exhibit a metallic luster and appear brighter.
- Pickling: Pickling is a method of removing the iron oxide scale from the surface of the steel pipe using chemical methods. After pickling, the surface becomes cleaner, exhibiting a silver-gray metallic color, and improving brightness to some extent.
- Galvanizing or Painting: Galvanizing or painting can improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of the steel pipes. Galvanized steel pipes have a silvery-white surface, while painted steel pipes can have different appearances depending on the color of the paint chosen.
