
1-inch aluminum tubing is a hollow profile manufactured using an extrusion process, with an outer diameter of 25.4mm. The raw material is aluminum rod, primarily the 6061 and 6063 series. It is a lightweight alternative to galvanized steel tubing. Its main characteristics are lightweight and naturally rust-resistant.

Advantages of 1” aluminum pipe
- Lightweight: With a density of 2.70 g/cm³, it’s one-third the density of steel (7.8 g/cm³). This reduces pipe weight, making handling easier.
- Naturally Corrosion-Resistant: It doesn’t require hot-dip galvanizing and is inherently rust-resistant due to its dense oxide layer, perfectly isolating the substrate from the medium.
- High Machinability: While maintaining strength, it offers excellent secondary machinability, allowing for easy cutting and welding. In the air conditioning industry, using aluminum instead of copper can control costs.
- Heat-Treatable Strengthening: Through solution hardening and aging treatment, it can stably achieve the preset high strength.

- 6063-T5: High precision. Features a highly smooth surface and precise tolerances, mainly used for decorative and conveying applications.

- T5 / T6: Heat treatment state during production.
- T: Thermally treated.
- T5: After extrusion molding, air-cooled quenching + artificial aging.
- T6: After extrusion molding, solution treatment, water-cooled quenching + artificial aging.

The content of other trace elements Mn, Zn, and Ti is ≤0.10% for each individual, ≤0.05% for each impurity, and ≤0.15% for total impurities.
- 6061 contains more copper and chromium than 6063, and also has a higher magnesium and silicon content, resulting in higher strength.
- 6063 has lower iron, copper, and chromium content, making it purer and better suited for extrusion molding and surface oxidation.

Production process
The main manufacturing methods include extrusion and cold drawing.
Extrusion Molding (Mainstream)
Aluminium ingots are extruded through a die in a single process. Seamless tubes are directly extruded, while seamed tubes are solid-state fused together within the die through a flow channel.
Cold Drawing (Subsequent Precision Rolling)
This subsequent processing step is required for the production of precision aluminum tubes. This step reduces tolerances and improves surface finish and precision.
