Stainless Steel Pipe Grades

It conforms to American standard SUS 304 and Chinese grade 0Cr18Ni9. The carbon content is less than or equal to 0.08%, with 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The maximum working temperature is 650℃. It delivers high cost performance and enjoys the widest application scope.

Molybdenum is added to this upgraded version of 304 pipe. Although its price is higher than 304, its anti-corrosion capacity is greatly improved, making it suitable for harsh corrosive environments.

It contains high manganese content at a low cost. It only offers basic rust protection, so it is used in neutral and dry atmospheric environments.

It contains 16-18% chromium without nickel. Its corrosion resistance falls between 201 and 304. It is widely used for home appliances and decorative pipes.

Titanium is added to the material to withstand higher temperatures. It is widely used in thermal equipment such as boilers and heat exchangers.

Surface Treatment Options

• Pickled Finish: A complete passive film forms on the surface without residual oxide scale. It is the basic general surface for industrial pipelines with low cost.
• 2D Finish: Produced by cold rolling, heat treatment and pickling. It has a rough matte surface for industrial pressure-bearing pipes.
• 2B Finish: Uniform matte surface with roughness Ra ≤0.4μm. It is the most universal surface finish with even luster.
• BA Bright Annealed Finish: No oxidation occurs after bright annealing. The surface is nearly mirror-smooth, ideal for high-cleanliness precision industries.
• No.4 Finish: Fine matte texture ground by 240-grit abrasive belts.
• HL Hairline Finish: Continuous long straight grain, also known as hairline grain.
• Mirror Polished Pipe: Regular, 6K and 8K mirror finishes. The surface is free of scratches, pits and defects with ultra-high reflectivity.

Manufacturing Process

Solid stainless steel billets are heated and pierced, then cold drawn. Annealing and pickling processes are adopted to improve dimensional precision. Final heat treatment optimizes the material toughness.

Stainless steel coils are slit into strips of required width. The strips are rolled and welded into tubular shapes with different welding methods for diverse uses. The finished pipes are straightened and pickled.

1. Surface Inspection: No cracks, delamination, dirt, scale or rough defects are allowed.
2. Dimensional Check: Outer diameter, wall thickness and straightness must strictly meet standard requirements.
3. Mechanical Property Test: Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation pass the standard tests, including flattening test and salt spray test.
4. Non-destructive Testing: Hydrostatic pressure test and eddy current inspection are carried out for all batches.
