1 inch galvanized pipe refers to hot-dip galvanized steel pipe with a nominal diameter of 1 inch (DN25). Its outer diameter is fixed at 33.4 mm / 33.7 mm (minor differences under different standards), manufactured by high-frequency ERW welding process. Widely applied for guardrails, low-pressure fluid transportation, prefab house supporting fittings and other fields.
Glory Steel is a reliable supplier and manufacturer of DN25 ERW galvanized pipes. We adopt hot-rolled or cold-rolled low-carbon steel strips/plates as welding substrates, including Q195, Q215, Q235 and other grades. Custom wall thickness is available upon request.

Advantages
- Excellent Anti-corrosion & Rust Resistance Protected by uniform zinc coating, the service life of the pipe is greatly extended. We can customize thicker zinc layers to resist oxidation for projects working under harsh environments.
- Flexible Secondary Processing It can be buried underground without melting or releasing harmful gas. Available processing operations include cutting, threading, welding, cold bending and hot bending. NPT (American standard) or BSPT (British standard) threaded ends can be customized.
- Cost-effective & Universal Standard Manufactured in accordance with global unified standards, perfectly matched with standard pipe fittings, valves and connectors worldwide. Low maintenance cost, service life reaches 15-30 years.
- Superior Mechanical Performance Stable pressure resistance, tensile strength and yield strength, anti-ultraviolet and sun-resistant. It can be used both as structural supports and fluid delivery pipelines.

Application Fields
- Plumbing & Fire Protection: Low-pressure natural gas & coal gas transmission pipelines, water supply supporting pipes for modular prefabricated houses.
- Building Structure: Construction support tubes, temporary site bracing pipes, guardrail support poles for parks and scenic spots.
- Municipal & Traffic Works: Low-pressure drainage pipes, underground domestic sewage pipes, small highway support poles.
- Machinery & Industrial Equipment: Horizontal & vertical guardrail posts, cable conduit for optical fiber & wires, base tubes for fitness equipment.

Common Wall Thickness & Theoretical Weight
- Conversion Reference: 1 kg/m ≈ 0.672 lb/ft.
| Wall Thickness (mm) | Imperial WT (inch) | Theoretical Weight (kg/m) | Weight per Foot (lb/ft) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.0 | 0.079 | ≈1.55 | ≈1.04 |
| 2.5 | 0.098 | ≈1.90 | ≈1.28 |
| 2.75 (12 Gauge) | 0.108 | ≈2.07 | ≈1.39 |
| 3.0 | 0.118 | ≈2.25 | ≈1.51 |
| 3.2 (10 Gauge / SCH40) | 0.126 | ≈2.40 | ≈1.61 |

Weight Calculation Formula
Weight per meter (kg/m) = Hot-dip galvanizing weight gain coefficient (≈1.03-1.04) × 0.02466 × (OD – WT) × WT.
- WT = Wall Thickness
- OD = Outer Diameter
Note: 0.02466 is the carbon steel density conversion factor; the 1.03-1.04 weight gain coefficient is applicable for all hot-dip galvanized steel pipes.
Comparison of Base Material Grades
Our 1-inch ERW galvanized pipes adopt three types of low-carbon steel substrates: Q195, Q215, and Q235. Each grade differs in chemical composition and mechanical properties for targeted project customization.
- Q195: High ductility, ideal for precise deep processing.
- Q215: Balanced performance with competitive cost.
- Q235: Optimal tensile & yield strength, the mainstream grade for engineering projects.

Chemical Composition
| Grade | Carbon (C) | Manganese (Mn) | Silicon (Si) | Sulfur (S) | Phosphorus (P) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q195 | 0.06-0.12% | 0.25-0.50% | ≤0.30% | ≤0.045% | ≤0.05% |
| Q215 | 0.09-0.15% | 0.25-0.55% | ≤0.30% | ≤0.05% | ≤0.045% |
| Q235 | 0.12-0.20% | 0.30-0.67% | ≤0.30% | ≤0.045% | ≤0.04% |
Mechanical Properties
| Grade | Min Yield Strength (MPa) | Tensile Strength (MPa) | Min Elongation After Fracture (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q195 | 195 | 315-430 | 33 |
| Q215 | 215 | 335-450 | 27 |
| Q235 | 235 | 375-500 | 26 |

Hot-rolled / Cold-rolled steel strip (Q195/Q215/Q235) → High-frequency ERW welding → Weld seam finishing → Fixed-length cutting → Pickling to remove oxide scale → Hot dipping in molten zinc → Cooling & passivation → Straightening → Full inspection → Packing & warehousing.

Pipe Connection Methods
- Threaded Connection (Nipple Joint): The most widely adopted method, matched with elbows, tees, straight couplings and other fittings. Thread standards available: NPT (American) and BSPT (British).
- Grooved Connection: Assembled by pipe clamps, fast installation, perfect for fire protection and water supply projects.
- Custom Connections: Flange connection or butt welding for special working conditions.

FAQs
1. Can galvanized steel pipes be used for hot water systems?
Not recommended. Zinc coating may peel off under water temperature above 60℃. Stainless steel pipes or copper pipes are better alternatives for hot water pipelines.
2. Can galvanized pipes be bent?
Yes, the pipe has excellent processing performance. Cold bending is recommended for best results.
3. Key Notes for Welding
Grind off the zinc coating within the welding area first. High welding temperature will generate harmful zinc fumes. After welding, repair the surface with anti-corrosion paint to restore rust resistance.
