Manufacturing Classification of 2 Inch Stainless Steel Pipe
- Seamless 2 Inch Stainless Steel Pipe: Manufactured from stainless steel billet via piercing, extrusion and cold drawing. Pipes made by this process achieve higher pressure bearing capacity.
- Welded 2 Inch Stainless Steel Pipe: Mainstream product manufactured from stainless steel coils. Available in multiple wall thickness options with obvious cost advantages.

Flattening Test (ASTM A312): SCH 5S~10S: flatten to 1/2 outer diameter without cracks; SCH 40S~80S: flatten to 2/3 outer diameter without cracks.


Material Grades
- TP304: General-purpose austenitic stainless steel. Good corrosion resistance and easy processing.
- TP304L: The suffix “L” stands for low carbon (Carbon ≤ 0.03%). Prevents chromium carbide precipitation during welding, ideal for welded applications.
- TP316: Upgraded stainless steel containing molybdenum. Superior resistance against acid, alkali and chloride corrosion with enhanced high-temperature strength.
- TP316L: Dual optimization of low carbon (“L”) plus molybdenum. Effectively avoids intergranular corrosion for welded conditions, relatively higher cost.
Note: TP is the prefix (Type) for pipe grades under ASTM A312, exclusively for tubular products. Stainless steel plates, coils, and strips do not adopt TP grade designation.
