Glory Steel recently exported a shipment of API 5L Grade B Steel Pipes for oil and gas transmission to Saudi Arabia. The cargo has arrived at the Port of Dammam, and the client has completed the full collection of the goods. This project consisted of 22 40HQ containers, with a weight of 26 tons per container.

Success Record
Project Background
Recently, an oil field in Saudi Arabia procured API 5L Gr B steel pipes for crude oil and associated gas transmission pipelines. The requirement stipulated that the pipes must comply with international oil and gas pipeline standards and be suitable for direct application in high-pressure, long-distance transport systems.
Having been contracted to execute a branch line project situated in a desert region, the client approached us with a request to manufacture the pipes in strict accordance with their specific technical specifications.

Client Requirements
- Compliant with API 5L Grade B standards; accompanied by an original manufacturer’s warranty certificate.
- The external surface shall be treated with a 3LPE anti-corrosion coating to withstand prolonged exposure to high desert temperatures and high-pressure underground environments.
- Shipment to be dispatched within 35 days of contract signing.
- Packaged with rust-preventive protection suitable for sea transport, with protective caps installed at the pipe ends.

Technical Standards for the Saudi Project
- Standard: API 5L PSL2 Grade B
- Material: Carbon Steel Grade B (Yield Strength ≥ 245 MPa, Tensile Strength ≥ 415 MPa)
- Process: ERW (Electric Resistance Welding)
- Certification: ISO 9001

Quality Inspection Before Shipment
The client specified a pressure rating of Class 150 / 300. Before shipment, we performed ultrasonic non-destructive testing on the welds and conducted hydrostatic testing; furthermore, after derusting both the interior and exterior surfaces, we applied an anti-corrosion coating, beveled the ends, and fitted them with protective caps.
Solutions
Upon receipt of an order, the hot-rolled steel coils produced at our facility are immediately uncoiled and subsequently cold-formed.

A critical step in this process is high-frequency resistance welding; following the welding stage, we conduct a series of subsequent operations—including normalizing, sizing, and non-destructive testing—with the entire process strictly controlled in accordance with the API Q1 quality management system.
The 3LPE (three-layer polyethylene) anti-corrosion coating is applied at a specialized anti-corrosion facility, where it successfully passes all adhesion testing requirements.
Packaging and Shipping
- Standard bundled packaging: 10–20 pipes per bundle, fitted with end caps and wrapped externally in waterproof cloth. Shipping marks feature bilingual labeling in English and Arabic.

The shipment consists of approximately 7 containers of small-diameter welded pipes and 15 containers of medium-to-large-diameter welded pipes, shipped directly to the Port of Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
