ZAM pipes are welded steel pipes coated with a zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy, made from steel strips coated with this alloy. Compared to traditional galvanized pipes, their main feature is the self-healing property of the cross-section.
Glory Steel is a manufacturer of ZAM steel pipes. Our ZAM pipes are produced by ERW welding of hot-dip Al-Zn-Mg coated steel strip containing zinc, 1–11% aluminum, and 1–4% magnesium. We are capable of mass-producing round pipes, square and rectangular pipes, oval pipes, as well as round pipes with wall thickness standards ranging from SCH10 to SCH80.

Definition of ZAM Pipe
This steel pipe is an upgraded version of galvanized pipe and is priced lower than stainless steel pipe. Z stands for zinc, A for aluminum, and M for magnesium. It uses carbon steel as the base material and features a tri-element alloy coating, designed to provide superior performance compared to galvanized pipe.

Features
- High Corrosion Resistance: Offers superior rust protection compared to galvanized pipes, providing excellent protection especially when scratched or perforated. Suitable for high-humidity and coastal corrosive environments.
- Unique Self-Healing Capability: The most significant advantage is that the alloy coating rapidly migrates to the cut surface when the pipe is cut, blocking oxidation and preventing rust from forming.
- Excellent Workability: We use a hot-dip coating that is resistant to peeling. No secondary treatment is required after various mechanical processing steps, as the protective film on the cut edges remains effective.
- High Cost-Effectiveness: Although the initial cost is higher, the superior performance ensures lower maintenance frequency, improving overall cost-effectiveness throughout the service life.

Applications
Primarily used in outdoor, high-humidity, and mildly corrosive environments:
- Railings: Power transmission towers, streetlight poles, pedestrian bridge railings, corrosion-resistant coastal railings, tropical factory railings, livestock fencing;
- Engineering Structures: Solar panel mounts, bridge supports, embedded brackets, prefabricated expandable building frames, and greenhouse frameworks;
- Municipal and Warehousing: Airport guardrails, shelving for humid storage environments, chemical waste storage bins, and road barrier fences;
- Fluid Piping: Sprinkler systems, pipes for transporting low-corrosive media, industrial exhaust systems, and water supply and drainage pipes.

ZAM Tubings vs. GI Pipes/SS Pipes
| Piping | Lifespan | Cost | Rust Prevention on Cuts |
| ZAM Pipe | 25–30 years | Moderate | Self-Healing |
| Hot-Dip Galvanized Pipe | 5–8 years | Low | Red Rust Formation |
| 304 Stainless Steel Pipe | Over 30 years | High | No Self-Healing |
Corrosion Protection Mechanism of ZAM-Coated Pipes

When cut, the zinc in the coating provides electrochemical protection, while the aluminum forms an aluminum oxide film that acts as a physical barrier. In addition to enhancing the protective effect of the physical barrier, magnesium also plays a reparative role by moving corrosion products with stronger protective properties to the exposed steel substrate, thereby sealing the wound.
What Are Corrosion Products?
They are solid compounds formed when the zinc, aluminum, and magnesium in the coating react chemically with moisture, oxygen, salts, and other substances. These products provide protection.
