Hot‑rolled steel strip is a coiled steel raw material produced by high‑temperature rolling. It serves as an upstream substrate for steel pipes and is widely applied in steel structures, cold‑formed sections, and as feedstock for cold rolling. It is mainly made of carbon steel, and low‑alloy steel grades are also available.
Glory Steel is a premium manufacturer and supplier of hot‑rolled steel strip. We produce hot‑rolled strips from common carbon structural steel, high‑quality carbon structural steel and low‑alloy steel. Custom processing including slitting and edge trimming is available.

Main Substrate Description
Available substrates cover common carbon structural steel (Q195, Q235B), high‑quality carbon steel (10#, 20#, 45#) and high‑strength low‑alloy steel (Q345B/Q355B). SPHC and SPHT are Japanese‑standard hot‑rolled grades frequently used for welded pipe substrates. Equivalent materials can be supplied for special requirements under ASTM, JIS or EN standards. Final properties shall be subject to MTC (Mill Test Certificate).

Key Features
- High forming efficiency: Hot‑rolling delivers fast production and large output. It provides good mechanical performance with high tensile and yield strength, showing excellent workability for welding, shearing, stamping and bending.
- Flexible processing: The strip can be slit into narrow widths. Hot‑rolled material features good ductility to satisfy deep‑drawing requirements for automotive and machinery components.
- Good environmental adaptability: It can be stored in open‑air yards. Surface mill scale offers basic rust resistance.

Main Applications
- Pipe manufacturing: Raw material for hot‑rolled square tubes, oval tubes and round tubes, further processed into cold‑rolled pipes, galvanized pipes and powder‑coated pipes.
- Construction steel: Fabricated into open sections such as C/Z/U purlins, trough‑type / tray‑type cable trays; pressed into 840/900 roof & wall panels, and floor decking sheets.
- Home appliance shells: Further cold‑rolled into high‑precision back panels for refrigerators, washing machines, high‑low voltage electrical switch cabinets and more.
- Fittings & components: Used as strapping bands for galvanized sheet bundles, and processed into saw blades, cutters, gaskets, springs and fins.

Our Hot‑Rolled Strip Products
- SHS (Square Hollow Section): Cold‑formed from hot‑rolled strip, sizes 10×10mm to 400×400mm.
- RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section): Continuously cold‑formed from hot‑rolled strip, common sizes 20×10mm to 400×200mm.
- Round pipes: Mainly ERW straight‑seam welded pipes; SSAW / LSAW pipes available upon request, sizes from 1/2 inch to 24 inches.
- Oval & special‑shaped tubes: Produced with similar processes as hot‑rolled round pipes. We supply D‑shaped tubes, elliptical tubes, flat‑oval tubes and custom profiles.
- Hot‑rolled cut‑to‑length plates: Produced by uncoiling, levelling and shearing hot‑rolled coils. Thickness 1.5 mm-6 mm with customizable widths.
- Stamped steel components: Structural parts and connection fittings made by stamping and bending hot‑rolled steel strip.

Production Process
Carbon steel slab → Heated to approx. 1200°C → Rough rolling → Finish rolling (core procedure) → Rolled precisely to target thickness → Laminar cooling → Coiled into steel coils → Optional further processing.
Edge Options
- CB (Cut Edge): Smooth, flat side edges with tight tolerances, preferred raw material for welded pipes.
- MB (Mill Edge): Relatively rough side edges with larger tolerances, cost‑effective option.

Material Selection for Welded Pipes from Hot‑Rolled Strip
- ERW straight‑seam pipe: Q235B, SPHC
- SSAW submerged‑arc spiral pipe: Q235B, Q355B
- High‑frequency spiral welded pipe: Q215, Q235A
- Pressure‑bearing high‑frequency spiral pipe: 16Mn, 20#
- Pile foundation spiral pipe: Q355B, Q235B
Note:
For general civil‑use projects, Q235B hot‑rolled steel strip is the preferred option with low cost and sufficient performance for ordinary working conditions.

Hot‑Rolled vs Cold‑Rolled Steel Strip
- Hot‑rolled steel strip: Rolled at high temperature, simple process, lower price, thicker gauges, surface covered with black mill scale.
- Cold‑rolled steel strip: Re‑rolled at ambient temperature from hot‑rolled feedstock, thinner thickness, for finished‑part manufacturing with bright, precise surfaces.
Packaging Method
Custom packaging is available per client requirements. Standard packing consists of inner waterproof paper + anti‑rust film, externally secured with steel bands.
- Horizontal Packing (Eye Vertical / Coil Lying Down): Coils lie flat like tires, coil eye pointing up or down. Suitable for thin gauges below 3 mm. Low cost and anti‑rolling.
- Vertical Packing (Eye Horizontal / Coil Standing Up): Coils stand upright with coil eye in horizontal direction. High lifting efficiency, for thickness above 3 mm. Stacking is not allowed.
