78 Tons of Galvanized SHS & RHS to the Philippines

Glory Steel signed a contract with a Philippine customer for 78 tons of galvanized rectangular steel tubes and square steel tubes. This cooperation required a relatively fast delivery schedule. The galvanized rectangular tubes were consolidated at the port and shipped in three 40GP containers. The voyage from Tianjin Port, China to the Philippines took only 10 days.

Client Background

The customer is a local building materials supplier that undertakes projects for downstream clients such as sugarcane plantations and citrus processing plants. Due to the local hot and humid climate, black steel pipes are prone to corrosion; seeking long-term oxidation resistance, the client opted for steel pipes with an anti-corrosion coating—specifically, HDG square and rectangular tubes.

The customer found us through Google on their mobile phone. They are also quite familiar with Philippine tariff policies, and importing steel pipes from China offers distinct advantages, which led to the order placement.

Manufacturing and Anti-Corrosion Standards

The production follows the ASTM A500 Grade B American standard, which covers both cold-formed electric resistance welded (ERW) structural tubes and seamless structural tubes, including round pipes, square tubes, and rectangular tubes.

The hot-dip galvanizing process is applied, with an average zinc coating thickness of ≥80μm. The surface is free from misses, zinc lumps, peeling, and the pipe ends are smooth and burr-free.

Packaging Plan

Each bundle of pipes is secured with galvanized steel strips and woven belts. The bundles are labeled with specifications. The entire bundle is wrapped in PE moisture-proof film, and desiccants are placed inside the containers to prevent moisture and rust. The pipes are also engraved with the customer’s brand, INDUSPRO, as required.

Container Loading and Sea Freight

The pipes are neatly stacked in layers inside the containers and secured horizontally with steel wire ropes to prevent movement during sea freight, which could damage the zinc coating. After customs declaration and inspection, the goods were loaded onto the vessel for direct shipment.

Why GI Square and Rectangular Tubes Are Popular in the Philippines?

  1. Cost-Effective: ASEAN tariff reductions combined with cost-efficient full-container sea freight make ERW rectangular and square tubes a cost-effective choice for general load-bearing needs, offering sufficient profit margins.
  2. Wide Range of Applications: These tubes are essential for orchard frames, fruit and vegetable processing plant storage sheds, farming sheds, fencing, and guardrail posts.
  3. Suitability for Hot and Humid Environments: They can resist rust for over a decade. In conditions with strong sunlight and abundant rainfall, galvanized tubes are a durable and essential material. They eliminate the need for additional anti-rust paint, saving costs and simplifying maintenance.
