ASTM A53 Grb Galvanized steel pipe is an internationally recognized American standard carbon steel pipe, belonging to medium carbon steel pipe, with a carbon content of 0.26%–0.30%. It typically appears silvery-white or grayish-white and is made of Grade B carbon steel, which has a higher carbon content and better pressure resistance than Grade A. It undergoes hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion protection and is available in both welded and seamless forms.
Glory Steel is a professional supplier of ASTM A53 Gr. B & Gr.A galvanized steel pipe. We provide Grade B galvanized pipes (SCH 10-SCH 80) manufactured using seamless, ERW, and FW processes. Wall thickness and length can be customized, and ODM/OEM services are available.
ASTM A53 Grb Galvanized steel pipe character definition
ASTM A53/A53M – Steel pipe designations defined by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These designations apply to ferrous and hot-dip galvanized welded and seamless steel pipes, specifying technical specifications such as material composition, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, and galvanizing requirements.
Gr.B – Abbreviation for Grade B, indicating that the steel pipe is of grade B. It is the primary grade under the ASTM A53 standard; Grade A is also available.
Galvanized – Specifically refers to steel pipes whose surface has undergone hot-dip galvanizing. The zinc coating weight requirement is ≥1.8 oz/ft² (approximately 550 g/m²).
Steel Pipe – Specifies that the product is a round carbon steel pipe. This standard specifies a circular cross-section, corresponding to both ERW and Seamless processes.

Features
Excellent Corrosion Resistance – Hot-dip galvanizing forms a dense oxide film, providing long-lasting and superior corrosion protection, even in humid and rainy environments.
High Strength and Toughness – As a Grade B steel pipe, its tensile strength ≥ 415 MPa and yield strength ≥ 240 MPa are superior to Grade A steel pipes, ensuring good impact resistance.
Good Processing Performance – Easy to weld, form, cut, and bend. In addition to galvanizing, it can be finished with a black patina, painted, or fitted with plastic caps.
High and Low Temperature Resistance – The base material can operate safely for extended periods at temperatures up to approximately 450°C. Hydrogen removal treatment after galvanizing avoids defects in the weld zone at high temperatures. In extremely cold regions, its toughness ensures the steel pipe is not prone to brittleness.

application
According to ASTM A53/A53M specifications, Gr.B steel pipes are specifically suitable for: mechanical applications, pressure applications, general pipelines, and forming operations.
Main Application Areas:
Building and Structures: Used for scaffolding, factory structures, bridge supports, stadium frames, underground water supply and drainage, and heating pipelines.
Low and Medium Pressure Fluid Transportation: Transports water, gas, fuel gas, steam, and other media; used in boiler rooms, municipal water supply, and compressed air systems.
Agriculture and Firefighting: Sprinkler and drip irrigation networks, greenhouse steel structure frames, tubular fencing panels for livestock farming. Fire sprinkler systems.
Public and Mechanical: Elevated billboard poles, streetlight poles, electrical conduits, mechanical parts, bearing sleeves, and equipment frames.

What is its manufacturing process?
The A53 Grade B gi Pipe production process is divided into two forms: welded and seamless, which are the mainstream production methods explicitly covered by this standard. This specification allows the following three process types:
S-type (Seamless): Abbreviated as SMLS, formed by hot rolling or cold drawing, without weld seams.
E-type (ERW): Steel strip is welded into a pipe by resistance welding, with fine, straight weld seams.
F-type (Furnace-Welded): Furnace welding process, an early technology, now rarely used.
PIPE ENDS TREATMENT
THREADED BOTH ENDS: BS or ASTM standard, one end with plastic caps, and the other end with coupling.
GROOVED ENDS: BS or ASTM standard, clamp-type quick connection.
PLAIN ENDS: regular situation, add plastic caps or not.
BEVEL ENDS WITH PLASTIC CAPS: 30 degree bevel suitable to welding.
